The dominant feature of Pewits Nest is a 30-40 foot deep gorge formed during the retreat of the last glacier. From the intersection of US Highway 12 and County W in southwest Baraboo, go west and south on W for 1.5 miles to a small parking area south of the road.

"Read about this online. It definitely didn't disappoint. It's a shame that some folks have gotten a little stupid with the jumping. The main gorge by the waterfall looks pretty safe for jumping from the lower ledge. But people just have to get higher and higher for the rush. Not sure if it's still legal to jump from the lower ledge. That seems relatively simple. It's the crazies jumping from 40ft up that are scary."

"Beautiful nature reserve. I loved going when it used to be a hidden gem, seems to be more tourists than anything now, but that doesn't change the beauty of this location. Parking is limited, be aware of that."

"Beautiful scenery but very dangerous if you're not paying attention to what you're doing. Not an ideal place for small children especially if they like to run. So many drop offs and very steep drop offs at that. But for a quiet get away by yourself or with someone, it's absolutely breath taking!"

"WARNING!! Cliff jumping, bringing in food/beverage, climbing on the rocks, or being in the newly-posted closed area will bring you a hefty fine of $175.00. Pewit's Nest is now CLOSED for cliff jumping. Still open for enjoying the scenic beauty."

"Unfortunately this beautiful place is quickly being destroyed. I was very dissapointed to see how bare the entire top path has gotten from people not staying on the trail. I also picked up a lot of trash my last visit. Please visit this beautiful site with care."
